If you are new to the craps table and you want to be a better than average player, then these craps tips are for you. As a new craps player, it makes sense to imagine that craps is one of the most complicated games to play ... after all, just look at the table. You have four casino employees working the table, plus a slew of betting options. Well, craps can be difficult ... if you make it difficult. But, craps can also be fairly easy, once you understand some important basics. The craps game has many special points to understand. Rather than trying to identify them all, I am including some basic tips that will inevitably help you on your journey to learning craps. The quickest way to get help, especially if you feel clueless is to be polite and tip the dealers. Being nice to other players will encourage them to help you, and tipping the dealers will definitely put you in their favor. The additional nuggets of craps wisdom I will share below are broken up into bite-sized craps tips. As a beginner you should spend time on the basics first. As you become more familiar with the game you can move on to more advanced play. So, in not putting the cart before the horse, let's go over some of the basics you will need to understand. If you are a born action junkie, you may not want to hear this, but listen anyway -- the Pass and Don't Pass bets are the only bets you should consider when you start playing craps. For a little more variety, you can also delve into the Come and Don't Come bets. What you want to avoid is making proposition bets, especially if you are trying to bet large. Why? Because you are more than likely to lose a ton of money quickly. And if you are lucky enough to win, the amount you win will not justify the odds against you. Sure, I get it ... the reason you are so attracted to the craps table, like most, is due to the excitement and all the action. Then, you look at the table and notice so many betting possibilities ... it's like walking into a candy store. Here's the sad truth: Most of those betting options, with all those wonderful colors ... are unnecessary distractions! Here's some advice on craps that will serve you well if you heed it, or cost you dearly if you don't -- stick to the basic craps bets on the table, because they are the best for you. One of the basic bets I mentioned earlier is the Don't Pass bet. This bets means you are betting against the shooter, the person rolling the dice. Naturally, there are those shooters that will tend to take things like, someone betting against them, personally. It's like you are saying you hope they lose. Of course if you are making a Don't Pass bet, you really are hoping like crazy the shooter loses. Here's the downside, most players at the craps table are generally accustomed to making Pass Line bets, which ultimately means that the majority of craps players at the table are counting on the shooter to win. Obviously, if you are betting against the shooter by betting on the Don't Pass, it is very likely you are betting against most of the people at the table. Here's my point -- if you are new and looking for help from the other players -- that probably isn't the best strategy for you. Just keep this in mind. To tip or not to tip, that is the question. The answer, you'll definitely find favor with the dealers if you tip liberally. Doing so can have immediate as well as long term advantages. The dealers, provided they are smart enough to understand that helping you helps them also, can explain certain parts of the game. They can make sure you don't get lost when the action heats up. They can also remind you to take your winnings off the table, if you forget. Only combine several bets when it makes good sense, with regard to the odds. Since you are putting yourself in a position to lose more than one bet, wouldn't you want to be sure the odds are not too stacked against you? So, before you start combining bets, make sure you are doing well with the basic, yet simple single bets. Last but not least, make sure you avoid the proposition bets. The odds are lousy. These are the bets that really slow down things at the craps table. You are bound to lose too often to make any profit from any of your betting. Being new to the craps table does not have to be a bad experience. Just be sure to follow the tips above to make sure you don't get swallowed up by confusion.
